What we do

At Kirishoi Foundation, our work is defined by five core pillars. These pillars reflect our comprehensive approach to empowering the community of Meru, Arusha, addressing interconnected challenges to create sustainable and lasting change.

We believe in the power of women to transform communities. We provide vocational training in fields like tailoring and business management to equip them with the skills to become financially independent. Our programs also include mentorship and leadership development to foster self-reliance and confidence.
1. Women Empowerment
We are committed to giving every child the opportunity to learn and thrive. We focus on ensuring access to quality education for children from vulnerable backgrounds by providing school sponsorships that cover tuition, uniforms, and books. Our support extends to after-school programs helping children reach their full potential.
2. Children's Education
Our initiatives champion sustainability and well-being through practical, community-led projects. These include clean water and sanitation efforts, reforestation programs, and educational workshops on proper waste management and hygiene to protect our natural resources and the health of our people.
3. Environmental Health & Care
This pillar goes beyond environmental health to focus on the overall well-being of our people. We organize health clinics and workshops in local villages, focusing on preventative care, nutrition, and disease awareness. Our goal is to empower the community with the knowledge needed to make informed health decisions, building a foundation for a healthier and more resilient future.
4. Community Health and Wellness
Recognizing the crucial link between environmental health , we provide hands-on training in sustainable farming practices. We teach techniques like permaculture and organic pest control, which not only protect the local environment but also help families grow their own food. This initiative provides food security, creates new opportunities for income, and promotes a self-sufficient community.
5. Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security

A Special Initiative: The Kirishoi Women's Group

The Kirishoi Women’s Group is a unique initiative and a testament to the power of community and creativity. It operates outside our core pillars, serving as a direct income-generating project. This collective of talented women uses their traditional skills to create and sell beautiful handcrafted ornaments and unique cloth handbags. This initiative provides a direct source of income, celebrates local artistry, and fosters a strong sense of sisterhood and collaboration among members.
