Our PROJECTS

Turning Vision into Action

At the Kirishoi Foundation, we believe in building practical projects that create real, tangible change. Our initiatives are designed to empower our community, foster economic independence, and build a brighter future for everyone in Meru, Arusha. Here are our two starter projects, which are already making a significant impact.

The Kirishoi Women's Group

This project is a powerful testament to the strength and creativity of women in our community. The Kirishoi Women’s Group is a collective of talented women who are reviving and modernizing traditional skills. They meticulously handcraft beautiful ornaments and unique, woven cloth handbags that are sold to provide a direct source of income for the members.

Our Goal: To provide a sustainable income for women, celebrate local artistry, and build a strong sense of sisterhood and economic independence.

Impact: Each ornament and handbag sold represents a step toward financial freedom for a woman and her family. The project not only provides income but also boosts the women’s confidence and social standing in the community.

How It Works: We provide the women with initial materials, business training, and a platform to market their products. All proceeds go directly back to the women in the group and are used to sustain the project.

The Local Chicken Rearing Project

This initiative is a grassroots effort to combat food insecurity and create new opportunities for families in the community. The Kirishoi Foundation provides local families with a starter flock of chickens, training on proper rearing techniques, and a small amount of feed to get them started. The chickens provide both a source of high-quality protein through eggs and meat, and a potential source of income from selling surplus chickens and eggs.

Our Goal: To improve food security and nutrition for families, and create a viable, low-cost micro-enterprise for local community members.

Impact: This project provides a sustainable source of nutrition for families, reducing reliance on external food sources. It also creates a self-sustaining business model that can grow over time, giving families a pathway to economic independence.

How It Works: We train families on sustainable poultry management and provide ongoing support. The initial investment in the chickens is small, but the returns in terms of food and income are significant and lasting.

Our Project Objectives

Our projects are guided by a clear set of objectives designed to create sustainable, lasting change in the Meru, Arusha community. These goals drive every action we take and define our commitment to empowerment, well-being, and self-reliance.

  1. To Foster Economic Independence: We aim to equip individuals with the skills and resources needed to generate their own income, moving them from dependence to self-sufficiency.

  2. To Enhance Community Health: We are committed to improving the overall well-being of our community through better nutrition, access to clean water, and education on preventative health.

  3. To Promote Sustainable Practices: We work to implement environmentally friendly solutions in all our projects, from agriculture to waste management, ensuring a healthy planet for future generations.

  4. To Cultivate Local Leadership: We strive to empower community members to take ownership of their own development and become leaders who can drive positive change from within.

  5. To Ensure Scalability and Replicability: We design our projects to be simple, effective, and easily reproducible, allowing successful initiatives to be expanded and implemented in new areas.
